War of the Heart Snow Globe Christmas Collection Jenna Victoria 9781537521305 Books Reviews
A powerful little book, chock full of interesting facts about wartime England and a nice wholesome love story to boot.
Jenna Victoria's War of the Heart is beautifully written and well researched. Her storyline is unique and her descriptions and action pull you right into the story. I loved this book and recommend it as a heartwarming, thoughtful, romantic Christmas story.
Louise Martin and George Walker meet at his B&B in London. She is wanting to right a family wrong that happened during WWII between she and George's families. What happens when their two twin snow globes are together? They travel back to December in 1940's London. Jenna Victoria writes a beautiful story which takes you back in time to this 1940's Era with love and mystery woven through the storyline. Great read!!
If you love WW II and/or British fiction, you’ll love this book! It even has time travel for those who enjoy some SciFi!
Transported back to England during the blitz, Louise and George must not only fit in to WW II England, but they must survive and try to find a way back to the current time.
This book has it all. Intrigue, history, romance, and Christmas. Will the mystery of the broach be solved? Will the family feud continue? And will Louise and George stay in 1940 England? You’ll want to read this book to find out! I highly recommend it.
I found War of the Heart to be a touching, page-turning read. The title is so fitting as the time period Louise and George travel to is caught up in war, while Louise is experiencing a war of her own- in her heart.
Messages of trusting in God, forgiveness, the savior’s birth, salvation, thankfulness (no matter the circumstances), the importance of family ties, and more are sprinkled throughout. A lively picture is painted even though the times are bleak, and the story encourages us with characters who find joy in the midst of heartbreak.
This story is memorable with an ode to back to the future, and more, my dear, Watson as George so playfully calls Louise. A happy ending is a delight for me, and my, how delightful this book is!
Wow what a lovely book! I've always been intrigued by time travel, wish it were possible. I love that this one is a Christian love story. LOL when George and Louise first meet, it sure doesn't seem like they'll get together, but it's the adversity they're thrown into that helps their love along. I loved all of the WW2 details. It's amazing how resilient the folks of London were to keep on with their lives throughout such devastating times! The morning after a bombing would occur, they would sweep away debris and get about the business of buying, selling, and sharing their lives. My hat is off to all of the people of that wonderful generation. I love how the couple prayed together and all of the wonderful dialogue and anecdotes.
I do want to mention one aggravating thing, and this has to do with formatting. I noticed throughout the book that every time the author uses the words two or three in a sentence, she capitalizes it. EVERY TIME. At first, I thought it was typos, but all the way through the book, it's been a constant. She doesn't do this for any other numbers, like four, five, etc. It makes me do a double take every time because I think it's a new sentence, lol. Miss Jenna, if you are reading this, you might want to get your publisher to fix it. Some spiteful person might take off stars for that. )
Fans of World War II stories and British history are going to adore this book! Jenna Victoria has delivered a book that is not only a time travel, but a Christian story that explores a number of themes while keeping the reader engaged in the story. Characters Louise and George are three dimensional, with flaws and all, and come to life in the pages of this book. Readers will not be able to not care about what happens to them.
For history lovers, and in particular readers who are fans of British mini series on television, this books is a feast chock full of historic details that bring 1940 London to life. Ms. Victoria has indeed proven she has the research skills necessary to pull off a story set so accurately and realistically over seventy years ago.
I highly recommend War of the Heart not only as a holiday read but as a treat to be savored any time of the year.
